چکیده
Abstract. Let Xn be the number of cuts needed to isolate the root in a random recursive tree with n vertices. We provide a weak convergence result for Xn. The basic observation for its proof is that the probability distributions of {Xn : n = 2, 3, . . .} are recursively defined by Xn d = Xn−Dn + 1, n = 2, 3, . . ., X1 = 0, where Dn is a discrete random variable with P{Dn = k} = 1 k(k+1) n n−1 , k = 1, 2, . . . , n − 1, which is independent of (X2, . . . , Xn). This distributional recursion was not studied previously in the sense of weak convergence.

This article describes the limiting distribution of the degrees of nodes has been derived for a kind of random tree named k-minimal label random recursive tree, as the size of the tree goes to infinity. The outdegree of the tree is equal to the number of customers in a pyramid marketing agency immediatly alluring
متن کاملA Probabilistic Proof of a Weak Limit Law for the Number of Cuts Needed to Isolate the Root of a Random Recursive Tree
We present a short probabilistic proof of a weak convergence result for the number of cuts needed to isolate the root of a random recursive tree. The proof is based on a coupling related to a certain random walk.
متن کاملIsolating a Leaf in Rooted Trees via Random Cuttings
We consider a recursive procedure for destroying rooted trees and isolating a leaf by removing a random edge and keeping the subtree, which does not contain the original root. For two tree families, the simply generated tree families and increasing tree families, we study here the number of random cuts that are necessary to isolate a leaf. We can show limiting distribution results of this param...
متن کاملLimit distribution of the degrees in scaled attachment random recursive trees
We study the limiting distribution of the degree of a given node in a scaled attachment random recursive tree, a generalized random recursive tree, which is introduced by Devroye et. al (2011). In a scaled attachment random recursive tree, every node $i$ is attached to the node labeled $lfloor iX_i floor$ where $X_0$, $ldots$ , $X_n$ is a sequence of i.i.d. random variables, with support in [0,...
متن کاملMultiple Isolation of Nodes in Recursive Trees
We introduce the problem of isolating several nodes in random recursive trees by successively removing random edges, and study the number of random cuts that are necessary for the isolation. In particular, we analyze the number of random cuts required to isolate ` selected nodes in a size-n random recursive tree for three different selection rules, namely (i ) isolating all of the nodes labelle...
